I've been politicking on my other LJ, although I'm not sure why I bother since both of my f-lists are political anyway, and the ones that aren't aren't going to move themselves for this election anyway.

But to all the Americans who voted today, I'm glad you did. By participating in your democratic processes, you affirmed with your actions that you believe in what Democracy can do in the world, no matter who you voted for or how useless you thought your vote was.

I'm happy for the people who are gleeful tonight, saddened for the people disappointed, and very impressed with both speeches - concession and acceptance.

They could have included a "his" in front of "wife Jill" at the very least. D'oh.

I'm thrilled that this country now has a chance for change and that we can hope once again. I'm deeply saddened, however, that bigotry and hatred were enshrined into the constitutions of several states. *sigh*

It'll be interesting to see how that changes now that a black man is the "face" of America.

Seriously, my mother and I almost came to trans-Atlantic blows over them when we were editing my thesis, but I REFUSED TO GIVE IN.

LOL. How can you fight about the Oxford Comma? It's so practical, sensible, and useful!

Why wouldn't you want to use it?

My mother is oversensitive to comma splicing. I think it comes from years as an elementary school teacher for a board that assumed grammar would be learned through osmosis and did not bother teaching it.
