Given the plot-arc direction Atlantis seems to be tending (ie. sorta dark-ish, morally questionable), could writing pairing and romance-style fic be considered the fandom equivalent of throwing orgies while Atlantis Rome burns?

And hey, if you can't put out the fires you might as well have an orgy before you burn.;)

True! It was just a thought I had - primarily related to various rethinks of story ideas I had before the season openers.

er....Bring it on?

Well, I wasn't planning to stop writing friend/ship fic anytime soon. But it was an interesting thought.

If it weren't for the fic this season I bet we'll all be slitting our wrists, lol.

Reading all the wonderful fics, with all the different angles, has definitely kept my enthusiam for SGA alive, and I suspect that it's the same for most fans. If plans go ahead, and we're really deprived of SGA for an extended period, then I think it will be the original fics written by fans like us, that will actually keep the fires burning! So 'to Hell with the TPTB's plot direction, let's have fun!

That's pretty much the motto for all fanfic ever written, I suspect.

Burn, baby, burn!Ahem, I mean, it is in the dark times that we need to hang on the the human side of the stories. (Says the one who hasn't read anything SG-related in weeks.) I always advocate the writing of Romance.no subject

Eek, I just had a thought. Remember that spoiler about Teyla possibly having a love interest for a change? You don't think it has to do with that creepy, er... not very attractive guy from this Friday's episode who seems to have an affect on women? If that's what constitutes an interest I will not be pleased.
What do you think?

The scene in question was apparently shot just before hiatus, which suggests that it's not going to be shown in an episode for a while - I'd say no sooner than episode seven.
The other thing is that the way Rachel phrased it suggests that it's something specific to her, not like the guy in Friday's episode, who apparently is irresistable to everyone.
