MCU Ladies Exchange fic rec

Still working my way through the MCU Ladies Exchange and there are some absolute gems in there.

However, I believe I have to award the "holy shit" award to the fic "I Came To Win" which is - of all things - an ice hockey AU. I am not North American, I don't have the faintest idea about ice hockey (a.k.a. "bloodsport on ice with sticks"), and I have work to do today, but I am maybe 1000 words into this fic and am utterly hooked.

Moreover, Maria hasn't even appeared in the fic yet!

Well done, author. Very well done!

(And yes, I will get to my story before reveals, I promise!)

I know! Like, half the fics I have to double-check whether they were written for me because they are exactly what I wanted and requested in one way or another. And some of them are great.

But that Hockey AU--all of the details are PERFECT.Which characters play what parts, bringing in DC characters for teams--excellent.

There's so much amazing fic in this exchange - lots of angles that I never even considered, lots of stuff that I'd never have written or probably even read. I'm absolutely stunned by the depth and power of all these stories - from the lighthearted, to the bittersweet-serious ones.

Thank you SO MUCH for reccing this on tumblr, it's a gem of a work. You probably wouldn't know this, but Natasha's escaping from Russia storyline is actually the story of a current national hockey league player! It was SO COOL to see the Cold War style shenanigans applied to a character who's a spy in canon. :D And the fly-by Carol/Jessica (the skating coaches) was super cute.

I saw other commenters reference Geno's defection, even if I didn't know the story myself. :)

And I adored all the little inclusions of the women - from Jennifer Walters (She-Hulk) to Carol & Jessica. The author sincerely outdid herself and it was spectacular. :)
