I actually wanted this to stretch out over a longer period, including Edmund growing up and having to face more adult decisions than is probably warranted for a teenager, but found myself struggling to complete it the way I wanted. So this is King Edmund the Just, Count of the Western March, in his early days of ruling (while he still remembers his childhood), trying to be fair. I based a lot of it on Edmund in the Prince Caspian movie, facing down the Telmarines (and at times Peter), knowing what he knows and not backing down.

And along the way I got to answer what happened to all the humans who'd once lived in Narnia (Frank and Helen, for starters, and then all the other countries of humans around them, most of which don't have the 'magical' creatures, and think about how you actually fairly deal with a bunch of people who decide this land is there for the taking (when, really, it's not).

There was a small reference in my Cor/Aravis fic 'Son of Kings, Daughter of Tisrocs' about the end of Narnia's Golden Age (after the Pevensies disappear) where Cor says that they're not going to annex Narnia: Archenland is enough.

Hm. Still have to write that fic about Caszhi of the Shinar. Also, the fic where Caszhi meets Susan after The Last Battle and sparks Susan's faith again.

The request was for Steve/Maria having interactions before the Avengers, perhaps she talks him into joining the Avengers, and I kind of thought about that first waking scene in CA:TFA. Lying to Steve from the get-go probably wasn't one of Fury's best ideas. Having someone who shoots straight with him, who's frank about wanting him for their work but who's also going to leave the door open for him if that's what it takes? Maybe that tipped the balance from emphasising what he's lost to helping him acclimatise into the future.

I might continue this series into the future, running off my own steam rather than the recipient's request.

Light As Air by lillypillylies - a Harry/Luna fic with trio friendship that is delightful and perfectly characterised from Hermione and her persisting questions, to Ron and his blunt affection, to Harry needing to stave off a panic that Luna doesn't actually like him after all.

And a treat:
Between the Music And The Rests by scribblemyname | scribblemyname - a Maria/Steve AU where they're IN SPACE and the Avengers are IN SPACE and I want to read the entire IN SPACE novel that must surely come from this. *hint hint*

I have to cook something for morning tea tomorrow. Okay, no, I can buy it, but I bake that stuff because I actually enjoy cooking and trying new things.

And then I have to make pavlova for Christmas Day with the relatives.

And then...something else for Boxing Day with the fam/stepfam. Not a pavlova since we'll have had that the previous day. Something light.

As I've previously mentioned, I could probably do pumpkin pie with the final pumpkin from last summer. Or I could do baklava? We have no shortage of pistachios right now, and I could probably get almonds...

Or maybe I'll just trawl How Sweet Eats and Sugar Hit dessert lists for ideas...
