The Isis Awards team is looking for volunteers - specifically, volunteers who have skills in maintaining websites, but other volunteers are welcome, too!

For those who aren't in the know, the Isis Awards are the awards for the less-popular heterosexual relationships in Stargate fandom.

When it comes to Stargate Fan Awards time, there are always one or two pairings that dominate the awards out of all proportion: rather than dumping all the 'oddball' pairings into one amorphous lump, the Isis Awards aims to treat these niche pairings as an individual category.

The awards are not a reflection of the show's canon, nor a slight or slur on the people who ship the pairings involved; it's just a set of fanfic awards that is aimed at pairings which have a smaller number of writers and fanfics, and might have trouble competing against more popular 'heavyweights'.

According to the volume of fanfic produced by fandom over the years, the two het pairings that are barred from the Isis Awards are SG1: Sam/Jack, and SGA: Shep/Weir. This is based purely on the volume of fanfic for these pairings, taken from observation of mailing lists, LJ communities, forums, and fic archives.

We could do with volunteers willing to help out, particularly in website skills, although we may later require assistance for nominations and counting.

Come sign up!

Tiny addition....last year some Teyla/Sheppard people got the pairing disqualified (it was a round about story I never really heard the whole of...something about wanting T/S to be a major 'ship which then made it inelligable). I assume it will be the same this year.

Excellent! As I said, I really only got the first half of the story. I do know it's a bit of the reason meg was less keen this year. Anyway, I am glad it's sorted out and the world is as it should be!

I always thought that these were such a good idea. I'm glad that somebody is doing them again.

Interesting. What are the problems with the website/what exactly is needed? I have to admit that I don't have much website experience, so I just assumed that one would reuse most of the website/the code from the previous years?

Umm hi. I have just recently really got into the actual SGA fandom, but I would be willing to help with website things if I can.

I used to work on the website at a former job, but I haven't worked on one over a year so my skillz might be a bit rusty.
