iheartkeys: It's labelled John/Teyla, but it's really John&Teyla and John&team and is adorable for the image of John running around looking after his sick team-mates.

And a couple of fics:
Take - John/Teyla, Conversion-fic,
All Or Nothing - Ronon/Elizabeth, Earth-fic.
I was thinking about writing a Rodney/Ronon kiss for that challenge, but ran out of time.
Oh, and the Porn Battle is coming up, so getcha smut ideas up and lined!

Not really - I think there have been a handful at most, and one of those was written for me by a friend...
I haven't ever really written Kate Heightmeyer as more than a passing character before. I'm not sure I can. And then, too, I'm not sure I could ship her with John.
I've never actually written the pairing myself, and while I enjoy reading it, I just cannot seem to find her voice within me to put something down in writing. I find rare pairings with John more easy to envision, because I find some pairings way too obvious - Sheppard/Weir and McShep, especially so. John/Teyla to an extent too. I think John would be into something rather more private than that, however there are few canon female atlantis-based characters remaining that we know enough about to really mine for use in het pairings. All of this said, I can appreciate good fic around the mentioned pairings.
John's either paired Teyla, Sam Carter, or Ronon in my mind...
Sam and John??? That is some evil joke, right? Seriously though, that is one pairing I just cannot see, now or ever. I'm filled with dread at the thought of a surge of that pairing...
*'Blue Brain Of Death' at the mere thought of that pairing*

Then again, Teyla is my favourite character, and TPTB and Joe Flanigan have made their preferences pretty clear in the past. Heaven only knows what the future will bring on that point, though!

Well, I admit that I envision it more as a "they have history" pairing, not a "current in the here and now" pairing.

that's an interesting point, it's almost like she is his emotional anchor.

i'm totally down with past sam/john. i've read some and it's interesting.

Canonically, I find it difficult to figure out what exactly John's relationships are with other characters, mainly because such a limited range of his emotions are shown within canon, and mostly in relation to events rather than other characters. He says he cares for them like family, but that is generally only shown via passion for keeping them safe. There are few really intimate moments at all. If anything, I think the most intimate conversation with another character when the guard actually came down, where he seemed comfortable to share, was with Ronon in 'Sunday'.
I'm not totally adverse to the idea of John and Teyla - I just think things about them both - him especially - need defining and developing more.

:oD I can deal with 'they have history'. 'Here and now' is probably my first real full-on pairing squick and is something that really started turning my stomach with the advent of certain S4 spoilers...

True. He's nearly as good as Amanda Tapping at hedging his bets on romance in the shows.
However, I was thinking of a specific interview where he was asked about on-show chemistry, and said something to the effect of: "Sheppard and Weir don't have chemistry; Sheppard and Teyla do, and the show's been written to take advantage of that."
I just think things about them both need defining and developing more.
Oh, definitely. There's a lot of stuff that hasn't been addressed for the characters - part of which is because it's an action-adventure show rather than a drama - but partly because TPTB are lazy on the emotional/personal side of the stories.

I vaguely remember that interview. I think that can be interpreted a lot of ways though - chemistry between characters doesn't necessarily mean romance. And I can certainly see where that is coming from - there is definitely more between John and Teyla as characters than there is John and Elizabeth, which could lead to even more between John an Teyla. At present, I can see them as a couple in well written fiction, but outside of that, I struggle to see them as anything other than sibling-like.
I actually find it amusing that I don't really see subtext in SGA so much, mainly due to a contingent of hardcore shippers using it to further militant behaviour, yet when I read interviews I always find some. Especially with Joe who is the king of subtext. I often wonder if I just read interviews wrong...

I would say mostly column B personally, with column A as the excuse for that behaviour. I recall the whole spiel about 'parameters of a hero' from various sources and just thought to myself - "None of you are 24 fans then?" I still don't understand why they think the 'hero' has to be this person who cannot be vulnerable or have weaknesses or deficiencies. Jack Bauer's have made for a way more interesting character than I ever see John Sheppard ever being in canon.
I REALLY should sleep...
