Dear Yuletide Writer,
Thank you so much for writing for me! I really appreciate the time and effort you're putting into my story, and I hope that it's not too arduous a task! You are awesome!
some basic information
I'm almost always about the women in any fandom - that is, I'd like the story to be about the female characters I've listed. My personal kinks tend towards intelligent, tough, resilient women, and frequently the ones who don't show a lot of emotion - they're pretty stoic and reserved - especially in their relationships.
I love reading gen fics about what they're doing, the problems they run into, how they get out of them - plotty gen, or character studies, or fluffy interactions between women with a dash of droll humour, or conflict, or backstory, or...well, really, anything that's female-centric.
Whoever you're writing about, I love my girls with agency - they should be the ones driving the plot, working out the solution, doing the deeds. I love them competent when dealing with crises and relationships and situations - particularly the stoics who might be internally panicking but getting the job done before they collapse in a heap out of sight and in private.
My romantic pairings are almost always het; if you don't do het or can't see my pairings, gen friendship (f/f and m/f) is more than welcome.
Agents of SHIELD - Maria Hill, Melinda May
Characters: Maria Hill, Melinda May
Pairings (OPTIONAL): Maria/Steve Rogers, Melinda/Phil Coulson
I kind of fell in love with Maria Hill during the Avengers movie and I'm so excited to see that she's eligible thanks to Agents Of SHIELD - doubly so that she's been written with the combination of droll sarcasm and professional focus that was hinted at in the movie.
Melinda May is just...awesome. Not the up-front leader, perhaps, but certainly the backbone of the team, quietly managing things on the side - until she has to step up. And she's played by Ming Na. I mean, really!
I would love a story about Maria Hill and Melinda May on a mission. Preferably while Maria is still a field agent, before she gets her promotion and outranks Melinda. For prompt ideas, perhaps "What Really Happened In Madripoor"? Or "What Happens In The Field With SHIELD, Stays In The Field With SHIELD (Except When It Doesn't)"?
Mission fic is fine; so is backstory and character studies. Either or both of them dealing with the other agents?
Please note: the pairings are entirely optional. I want a fic that's about Maria and/or Melinda and the other Agents of SHIELD who don't get a look-in the broader MCU fandom, not something that's about Steve or Phil. If you can write the pairings and cameo the guys, then that's not a problem - particularly with Phil since he's part of the show - but the story focus should definitely be about Maria and/or Melinda!
Master Li and Number Ten Ox - Barry Hughart
Characters: Master Li, Number Ten Ox
Adventures in a China That Never Was! I...am kind of unpicky about exactly which adventures as long as they aren't entirely about the sex. Craziness! Zaniness! That wonderful humour of the books that still makes me LOL every time I read it!
I'd love some plotty/mystery/intrigue, but if that's too much, then a snapshot of a 'day in the life of' would be awesome.
Please, no Master Li/Number Ten Ox slash. I like them in their teacher & student relationship.
Psy-Changeling series - Nalini Singh
Characters: Sahara Kyriakus, Sienna Lauren, Ben Stone, Marlee Lauren
Pairings (OPTIONAL): Sahara Kyriakus/Kaleb Krychek, Sienna Lauren/Hawke Snow, Ben Stone/Marlee Lauren
Ben/Marlee: I'd love to see a snapshot (or a dozen) of these two growing up as friends in the Snow Dancer pack. Perhaps a glimpse at how Marlee works out her TK in the midst of young Changelings? Or where she fits in the dominants/maternals/submissives structure? How about conflicts with Ben as they grow up and how they manage it? And perhaps that moment when she switches from seeing him as a playmate to a mate?
Sienna & Sahara: two dangerous women - one capable of tearing down the mind, the other capable of burning up the body. DO NOT MIX! At least, that's the popular thought... Reality turns out to be a little bit different.
Or, basically, anything that involves any of the Psy-women from the books, along with Brenna, Indigo, Mercy, Adria... You can include the women from the Shine Foundation/the Forgotten books, too! I really love Sophia's cool collectedness, and Katya's willingness to destroy herself to protect the Forgotten (along with the man she loves), and...
Eh, I might as well just say 'any of the women from this series interacting is fine by me'. Bonus points for plot. Keep the canon pairings, though, please!
Exiles - Cailet Ambrai
Characters: Cailet Ambrai
Pairings (OPTIONAL): Cailet/Josselin
Every year I hope for another story of how Cailet Ambrai and Josselin Mikleine get together! Seeing as we're never going to get the actual story from Ms. Rawn. (*sigh*) Age differences, experience difference, sexuality, and the opinion of the other Mages living in Scraller's Fief. (I'm kind of intrigued by how the "knowledgeable man/female innocent" dynamic would work in a world where it's more expected for a woman to be sexually confident and the man's experience isn't expected beyond his ability to please the woman he's bedding.)
However, if Cailet/Josselin isn't your thing, I'd love to see how you envision the Mage Academy working in Scraller's Fief. Cailet living with Sarra and the rest of the Mages in close quarters, with Gorynel Desse in her head making snarky comments? What about the Mages being trained and coming in and going out? How does the logistics work? (I guess that would come under 'worldbuilding'?)
Wicked - Schwartz/Holzman: Elphaba Thropp, Fiyero Tiggular
Characters: Elphaba, Fiyero, Galinda
Pairings (OPTIONAL): Elphaba/Fiyero
I love falling-in-love stories. I really want to see a bit more about these two becoming friends, and maybe the process of falling in love around Galinda - who they both care about, but who's not entirely at their intellectual level. Does Fiyero convince himself that it's just friendship until Elphaba chooses to go against the Wizard? Does Elphaba just assume that Fiyero is smiling at her and being friendly because she's Galinda's roomie, or maybe because he's setting her up for a fall?
I haven't read the book, just seen the musical, so I don't know Fiyero's characterisation from there (if he even has characterisation there: I've heard the book is pretty different to the musical), but I think that, in this case, one of my big interests is in what's motivating Fiyero, since we can see Elphaba's motivations, and we can guess at Galinda's.
Or if that's not to your taste, how about a friendship fic between Elphaba and Galinda: magical girl adventures!
I mostly want romantic Elphaba-Fiyero or friendship Elphaba-Galinda. If you could do either of those, I'd really love it.
The Muppets - Miss Piggy

Right, so this is my crackerrific choice. And I do mean CRACKERRIFIC.
These are options to get the creative juices running, do not feel you MUST DO THEM if they are not your thing!
I'd love to see Miss Piggy's interaction with "real people" a la the traditional Muppet Show. However, I acknowledge that this skims into RPF, which is not everyone's thing (it's not usually my thing). RPF fandoms: any of the women from NCIS, Pacific Rim, Marvel Avengers movies, or Elizabeth II of England (ie. the Queen).
If RPF is not your cup of tea, then how about meta? "Miss Piggy signs up for Yuletide." Or "Miss Piggy discovers Tumblr". Add in the Muppet characters you feel are needful to make commentary and let loose! (I have a soft spot for Sam the Eagle: "YOU ARE ALL...WEIRDOS!")
If meta is a bit much for you, then how about another episode of PIIIIIGS IIIIIN SPAAAAACE?
I repeat, this is my crackerrific option, and these are just ideas. If you can write any of them, by all means go for it! If you can't, then just write any story involving Miss Piggy being her awesome, porcine self: unabashed, unashamed, unreserved, and amazeballs!
You will have written Miss Piggy and I will love you forever and ever, until the stars run out of gas and die and the universe is being sucked into the netherverse at the other end of the black holes. Or something. Either way, it's a really really long time.
