I'm becoming 'meh' about the show again, although this week managed to pull me out of the doldrums for a bit.
Team cuteness! Teyla saving the day! Teyla being techno-wise enough to keep up with Rodney's babble at the start, techno-conversant enough to recognise that Rodney was inches away from success, and techno-competent enough to know which plug to get John to pull! And having the ingenuity to use John's frame of reference (Afghanistan extraction) to deal with the situation they were actually in!
God, I love this girl. She doesn't get many scenes, but when she does get decent stories, she bloody well shines like the evening star in a luminous purple sky.
Plus, Rodney's complaints in the last scene! And Ronon's "You shot me, too!" And John's apology! And Teyla's reassurance. So cute!
*sighs*

The Rare Pairings Ficathon over at
sg_rarepairings closes sign-ups this weekend.
Pairings from both Stargate shows, crossovers allowed - the four pairings that cannot be requested are: Shep/McKay, Shep/Weir, Sam/Jack, or Jack/Daniel. The people running the ficathon decided that - based on communities, groups, fanlistings and archives - those four pairings are more than adequately represented by the fandom and don't need any encouragement.
Sign-ups, anyone?

I had another pimp to do, but I've forgotten what it is.

And now for abooty beta call!
Is there anyone on my f-list (particularly among the lurkers and people I don't know) who'd be willing to act as a beta for some of my fics? I don't care what you ship as long as you like Teyla, like the team, don't have an issue with John-and-Teyla stories featuring them as friends, and can read most genres.
My current beta seems a bit busy and I wouldn't mind having another one or two to hand - preferably people who don't usually comment on my stories, since someone who isn't invested in my stories or scenarios is more likely to give me a blunt evaluation. While it's pleasant to hear that people like one's work, it's also helpful to have someone with whom to seriously discuss the story and possibly pick up differing character angles.
I figure we'll work out a system as we go along.

heh, good luck with the beta search... I'd think it'd be hard to beta yours, they're all so good.

And I don't know how helpful I would be as a beta -- your stories impress me way too much -- but if you need a hand, I'm more than willing. I've done beta work before, and will do the best I can for you. I've got school to worry about, so it might take a few days to make it back to you. :)

Although I am considering a long Teyla-focused gen story and am trying to get the guts to actually start writing the damned thing. I might use you for that one, if you've the time.

...and on a tangent, my brain just tossed up a gutter-level thought about that line.

Heh. Awesome. Follow your brain. ;)

Well, it also tossed up a gutter-level thought when Teyla said, "Take me in the cave now, John!"
The random innuendo generator was obviously set to 'high' when this episode was written.

and the team was creepy..none of them trusted one another and they were all willing to kill one another..but interestingly enough, all of them recognzie Teyla...Wooohooo!
and Rodney working with Teyla...HELL, about TIME! I wonder if he will be calling her Xena anytime soon....LOL
she simply saved his cute ass, AGAIN!

John thought she was the Captain he saved out of Afghanistan. She had to use that to get them back to the cave and to get her in to Rodney's work.
Ronon saw her and John as Wraith - the scenes when he's shooting at them, you see two Wraith - one of them helping the other.

It might be another glitch with the closed caption, but when he views the two of them near the entrance of the cave, the CC reads him as saying "Teyla." I remember because I rewound it to make sure.
Wouldn't be the first time CC got dialogue wrong.

I need to go beta farming myself eventually. :)
