Why?: Because it's a laugh and a half, the boys learn about drafts, there is coming out, bad bodice-ripping, and Teyla gets to tease the boys at the end.

Plus, I was feeling horrible and grouchy and bleh, and this fic cheered me up like whoa.

ETA: Just went through the john_teyla_fic Masterlist (Why didn't I do this before???) and found these gems. All in-character, well-written pieces, small and neat and John-and-Teyla focused.

Why?: Because it's brilliantly executed and really well-written. And I thought about writing this story after The Real World aired, but she's done it so much more concisely and better than I could have!

Title: House of the Rising Sun

Rating:rated PG
Why?: John and Teyla friendship, with a little tenderness, and a reason for why John's been crushing on Teyla and she's not dragging him into her quarters to 'seal an alliance'.

Title: Through The Looking Glass
Author: purple_cube
Rating: NC-17
Why?: Aliens made them do it! Er. Except with a slight twist... *g*

Title: Family Tradition
Author: madjm
Rating: PGish
Why?: Cute and, yes, schmoopy, but hits the spot. Teyla being mischievous with John. Wonderful.

Title: Not Without Regrets
Author: snoggingpicard
Rating: PG
Why?: This story actually most focuses on Carson, with a bit of Sheppard-and-Teyla friendship at the end. It's got dorky!John, Carson-and-Teyla friendship, and both the bitter and the sweet.

About half the entries aren't handed in yet, but these are the ones I really liked from what's already up there. However, I recommend you go and check them out yourself in case something hits your spots that didn't hit mine!

You know, this makes me want to say, Okay! Let's do this again! Just so some more wonderful John/Teyla fic gets written!

Maybe Valentine's Day?

You know, half the time I'd settle for Teyla-focused with team friendliness, or even well-written Teyla with a significant role (like dzurlady's fic). John/Teyla's just my preferred pairing/friendship.

I wish for more Teyla, too. Regarding pairings, I prefer McShep, but any well-rounded story should feature Teyla (but doesn't), gen and romance fiction alike. 30toseoul's team!love fic and cesperanza's Three Lovers made me quite happy, although I'll read the ones you recommend above...as well as any Teyla/Rodney story that crosses my path.

I personally tend towards Teyla/anyone-but-Ronon with a particular John/Teyla bias, but I like team genfics that use and characterise Teyla well.

They're rather more rare than I like. (Probably because episodes that use Teyla well are similarly rare.)

I think it doesn't help that anytime I find a good Teyla-fic or John/Teyla fic, it's only got a handful of comments to it. John/Teyla OTP writers (who seem to be the people who really like and write about Teyla) don't seem to get much cred if they're not in the mainstream slash scene.

who0ps, I totally forgot to reply, sorry :P. OK, here it is, but there's some things I don't like of how it has turned out:
-the face of the people behind (teyla & john's gangs) are diffcult to see
-I wasn't able to use vivid colors on it, hope you like it this way
-I don't like it in general but is what usually happens when I made something
-And there'd be more issues, but I don't remeber.

Well, here it is, say what changes you want & stuff, and when it's ready, tell me the title, k?

It looks cool! Different to how I imagined it, but that's not a bad thing!

(I think in colour rather than sepia tones - but sepia suits the angle of mafia and crime kingpins and the agents crossing the line to get the job done.)

Only two things.

1. I love the image of John in the business suit (*fans self*) but would you please find an image where he's in an approximately 'mirrored' pose to Teyla, particularly in regards to the direction of his gaze - his interaction/conflict with Teyla is the key dynamic in the story.

2. If you could put an image of Kolya (Robert Davi) in alongside Elizabeth (sort of shadowing her) then that would be awesome! Try to find something that's still recognisably Davi, but kinda attractive-yet-delicately-menacing.

...and I still haven't decided on a title! Uhh...

Okay, let's run with Shadow Dance.

(heh. What fic would you like? character/pairing and prompt/scenario. The only three pairings I don't write are John/Rodney, John/Elizabeth, and Teyla/Ronon - I'll try my hand at all other slashfic, hetfic, and genfic at least once.)
