LiveJournal | DreamWidth

Welcome to the Maria Hill Comment Fic Fest - a chance to write a bunch of ficlets about the woman who single-handedly rescued Captain America, the Black Widow, and the Falcon from death at the hands of HYDRA with nothing more than her brains, a stun-wand, a laser-cutter, and balls of pure titanium.

Instructions
1. Leave a comment containing a prompt, scenario, or quotation to inspire someone else. If you want to leave characters or pairings in addition to Maria, then add them in!

eg.
Maria & T'Challa, understanding and responsibility
Maria, gen, We are made to persist. That's how we find out who we are. (Tobias Wolff)
Maria/Steve, sex in uniform up against a wall where there's the fear of discovery

2. Pick a prompt. Write a drabble (100 words exactly), ficlet, fic, novella, or GRAND EPIC TALE about Maria from that prompt.

3. Post it/link it to the comment-fest, putting the title/character/pairing/rating in the subject line.

eg.
MCU: "Killing In The Name Of" by Tielan - Maria & Natasha, R (violence)
Ultimates: "If It Wasn't For Those Damned Kids" by SelDear - Maria, G
Comics: "UnPleasant Hill" - Maria/Steve by SueLinley, PG-13

4. Do it all over again!

Any incarnation of Maria is okay, any pairing/threesome/moresome with her in it, any additional characters - so long as the story is about her!

There are no deadlines, no requirements to leave prompts or to fill, and no pressure to perform! (Although I hope many people will - more Maria love is always needed throughout fandom b/c she is freaking AWESOME.)

There will be two posts where prompts can be left - LiveJournal and DreamWidth - and anonymous commenting is allowed and unscreened on the Fic Fest post so anyone can post a prompt or link to a fill! If there are enough fics, I might start an AO3 collection if there are enough fics for it on AO3.

Promotion

Cut and paste the following code into your LJ/DW post to promote the Fic-fest.

Come and play!

NB: I vaguely based this off the Porn Battle, as well as the various other prompt-fests out there.

Because the number of people who would actually prompt for this pairing is most likely in the single-digits, I'm making up a post for Maria/Steve prompts that people would like to see written, just to collect them all together.

It's pretty simple - leave a Maria/Steve prompt and maybe someone (not just me, I hope) will fill it!

Prompts can be words, phrases, songs, or scenarios. You can be vague as you like, or you can be intricately detailed. You can specify romance, friendship, or colleagues; movieverse or comicsverse; action, drama, angst, romance, anything, whatever!

I'm thinking of this as an "inspiration" post rather than a "fill the prompt" post. This is just somewhere for the ideas to run wild and free.

the little details )

Please link/forward/post around - the more the merrier!

If you can work out all those acronyms without looking them up - good on you!

I skipped Round #2 - too much on, not enough time.

But I did start the story:
The first thing Airman Amanda Wilcox ever saw coming through the Stargate was Dr. McKay’s rear end. It was hanging over the shoulder of a man who, in Mandy’s estimation, belonged on a wall calendar, preferably naked or so close as to make no difference.

A moment later, the hunk and his sack of potatoes were joined by two people whose conjoined limping progress into the Gateroom suggested they’d encountered something of the big and brutal variety and come off second-best.

Round #3 just went in.

In a day or so when the stories come out, I'm going to ask you to go in and vote. There aren't so many stories in this round - another two off the list - and this one, I can guarantee will not be full of "Rodney gets hurt and John hovers over him." Do you know why? Because the rules of this round state that the only characters who may appear in the story are Teyla, Lorne, Zelenka, Woolsey, Chuck, or Sam.

I admit: I saw the challenge and LOL'd.

For those who follow, are inclined, or have open minds towards this pairing or even just their interaction as friends or team-mates:

John&Teyla Prompt Challenge over at John/Teyla, open all September and October.

One prompt per person. Then, if you produce something for the challenge, or leave feedback for two items in the challenge, you can put out another prompt.

Just start by leaving a prompt - a word, quotation, lyric, scenario. And think about writing, graphicking, or sketching something for the challenge.

My brain is fried. Anyone got bacon?

Gimme two characters (or the team) and a prompt. No pairing guarantees.

[livejournal.com profile] beaniesheppard asked for John, Ronon - gym (gen).
[livejournal.com profile] writerrising asked for Radek, Teyla - mainland (gen/UST).
[livejournal.com profile] triciabyrne1978 asked for Evan Lorne/Kate Heightmeyer - couch (het - NC-17).

And I'm done! No more prompts being taken!

Over at [livejournal.com profile] teylafen, I've just started up a Prompt Battle for Teyla.

Prompts can be left between now and Saturday midnight, UK time, and participants will have all next week to produce something with the prompts!

It's supposed to be low-maintenance, low-fuss, and low-pressure, and something enjoyable to do.

I'd love it if you guys ran around and pimped this like a big pimpy thing! *bats lashes*

This is my "Say You, Say Me" challenge!

Write an Atlantis ficlet: 100-500 words - any character, any story idea - and I will write you one back, 'remixing' it in the process.

Only one ficlet per person.

Okay. V-day challenge. Pick a pairing I will write and a prompt and I'll try to write something about that pairing for Valentine's Day. First person to prompt for a pairing gets their prompt written, unless their prompt is trumped by someone else.

If you want to ask for anything SG1, I'll do Sam/Jack and Sam/Cam in SG1, and Cam/Teyla, Sam/Shep, and Elizabeth/Daniel in crossover. *ponders Vala/Shep and Daniel/Teyla*

Leave character and one-word prompt for ficlet. Ficlet will be at least 100 words but prob'ly not over 500.

Check the comments before leaving your prompts. If there are still two 'active' prompts for a character (ie. I haven't yet written the ficlet) then pick someone else.

Will try to be humourous, but am feeling distinctly blah, so cannot guarantee frivolity.

ETA:
Rodney: cheddar, Seattle
Ronon: retrieve, haircut, ballroom dancing
John: high heels
Michael: decades
Elizabeth: headache
Teyla: hickey, peace

I thought about asking the people reading this for prompts, before I realised I already have quite a lot to write and don't really need anything more weighing guilty on my conscience.

I should be writing my [livejournal.com profile] sga_santa challenge, or my [livejournal.com profile] sg_rarepairings fic, or my [livejournal.com profile] john_teyla Christmas ficathon entry, or the [livejournal.com profile] gate_women challenge, all of which are due sometime in the next six weeks.

Would anyone like to write a ficlet for me? Spur me on to what I should be writing?

Don't suppose I could eke some more comment fic out of people? I'm feeling flat and 'orrible right now and could do with a pick-me-up.

Teyla, team, John/Teyla, Teyla/Rodney, Teyla/Lorne, Teyla/Carson, Teyla/Zelenka, Liz/Ronon, Rodney/Ronon...?

You write me one and I'll write you a ficlet in return. Team or any friendship, most pairings (exceptions: Shep/Weir, Shep/McKay, Ronon/Teyla).

Y'know, given the number of slashers on my f-list, I'm kinda surprised that nobody's ever requested a slash ficlet of me during one of these challenges. Of course, I may be making the erroneous assumption that anyone would want a ficlet from me.

--

Got my [livejournal.com profile] sga_santa challenge. This year's challenge seems even more Shep/McKay centered than last year. I'm almost beginning to think that someone should organise something along those lines for the non-Shep/McKay group - it's a little intimidating to look at the comm and realise that 9/10 requests are Shep/McKay and that you don't like them or don't want to write them.

Then again, I guess that's what ficathons like The Holiday Ficathon over at [livejournal.com profile] john_teyla are for!

/pimp

Am tired and feeling stale and bleak and crappy and unNaNo-esque. So comment, people!

CATEGORY: Vignette
RATING: PG-13
NOTES: When I asked for prompts, six months ago and more, [livejournal.com profile] irony_rocks suggested Teyla remembers screaming as a child, with her hand coated with her father's blood. I wish it was more polished. The story went through several incarnations and even now, I'm not satisfied with it, but I don't presently have the presence of mind to put it together in a way that will make it 'proper'. Sorry about that.

CATEGORY: gen, team, humour, smarm
RATING: PG-13, insulin recommendation
SPOILERS: 3.04 - Sateda
NOTES: Written for the [livejournal.com profile] sgateamathon06 for [livejournal.com profile] snoggingpicard who wanted "a group hug" and also written for the anonymouse who requested the prompt of Ronon: team is family.

TITLE: The One Who Wasn't There
SUMMARY: John remembers being told about Eskimo settlements in Alaska that were found abandoned, without a living soul in them. This is worse.
CATEGORY: Angst, hurt/comfort, John/Teyla
RATING: hard R
SPOILERS: It's kinda negated by what happens in The Return, but oh well.
NOTES: This was requested by Kim-the-anonymouse waaaaay back in March or April 2006 when I offered to write ficlets to prompts from my f-list. She wanted John/Teyla with the prompt, "Teyla's the last of the Athosians." And then things got tricky. At any rate, it's a bit longer than a ficlet at ~3,600 words, and also fits in with the [livejournal.com profile] fanfic100 challenge, prompt #63 - Passing.

At last count, I have four people who requested a gen fic which I still have not delivered.

According to my count, [livejournal.com profile] irony_rocks, [livejournal.com profile] million_moments, [livejournal.com profile] missyvortexdv, and Kim the anonymouse are still waiting on fics - [livejournal.com profile] sparklingjadex, yours is really close to being finished, I promise!

I'm sorry this has taken so long, but I've been chewing over your prompts for a while and the ideas I've come up with just won't work when I put fingers to keyboard. (Not that any of my ideas are particularly brilliant lately.) Do you have alternative prompts or characters for me to use?

Set me a genfic challenge: pick one of three characters - Teyla, Ronon, or Carson - and set me a prompt.

I'm frantically writing hetfic, but I need something to offset it - too much hetfic and everything starts feeling the same in my brain. I need something to balance it out - and Teyla, Ronon, and Carson don't get much love in comparison to other characters. The prompt can be a quote, a phrase, something a character says, a situation, or a list of things - just keep it short.

Yes, the other characters will turn up in the challenges, but I want to write something about the 'minor three' characters, because they get lost amidst the love for the 'big three'.

ETA: I'd like it if people prompted something for Ronon or Carson, too!

I'm feeling generous and am in the mood to grant you a boon! (props to anyone who can pick the quotation)

Any character interaction, any friendship, or any of the following pairings: John/Teyla, Elizabeth/Ronon, Teyla/Lorne. (And if you beg reaaaaally hard, I'll consider Teyla/Rodney.)

And a prompt: just a phrase, keyword, or one-line describing a scenario, please.
