20th December - [livejournal.com profile] crazy4orcas asked "You're in charge of writing the Pacific Rim Sequel -- what's the story?"

*eyes you* Don't think I can't spot what you're doing! Again.

Okay. This isn't as long or as detailed as the MCU movies – not even close. It's more of a general idea than anything concrete.

But it would once again be all about the female character.

Pacific Rim II: Electric KaijuBlue? )

So, general themes rather than detailed plot.

But I still see what you were trying to do there! :D

I've spent the weekend binding and finishing my two quilts for the Sydney Quilt Show in 2 weeks' time. I still have a hanging sleeve to affix, but they're nearly done!

I'll put pics up here after I've had a chance to photograph them at the show. :)

And I think I got a little sunburned at the hockey games on the weekend. Even in winter, our UV levels are pretty high. My face feels like it's radiating a gentle heat right now. I really need to remember the sunscreen.

Next up: sexism in quilting.

no, not 'reverse sexism' )

Pacific Rim 2 announcement has me hopeful. Cautiously hopeful - particularly in light of the news that GdT is back on the project and writing the script.

I only have three wishes:

1. the story is more clearly about Mako and her achieving her goals post-Pitfall.
2. the story includes her relationship with Raleigh to debunk the "a woman can be strong and well-crafted or she can be in a romantic relationship with a man" stupidity that's making the rounds after that idiot article the other week.
3. there are more non-white non-male characters - as in, all the new characters are non-white and/or female to balance out the four white males who survived to the end of the first movie.

Placeholder for the moment - there will definitely be more!

Okay, so I love these fandoms and I love the female characters of these fandoms (more specifically, I really really love one or two female characters in these fandoms: the others are nice but these ones tug my heartstrings) and I would adore it if you wrote something that is centric about these characters.

likes and dislikes - Agents of SHIELD, Sanctuary, Angel, Pacific Rim, Captain America )

Do I even try to finish [livejournal.com profile] marvel_bang? I mean, I got 20K in, but this story is BIG. Like, EPIC. And I have two weeks before I head out to the US for my trip.

Rough drafts (16K or 80% finished) are due on the 29th although the story isn't due for another month or so after that. I can get to a stopping point, but I don't know if I can get to the end of the story. Honestly, we're looking at another 10K to reach the end of Part 1, and there's at least Parts 2, and 3 to go in the big arc.

Did I mention it's EPIC?

*sighs*

Initial reviews by betas have been positive, although at least one isn't in the fandom at all, so his tastes might be different.

And meanwhile I have at least two big PacRim plotbunnies warring for space in my head, and I need to finish at least this one Mako/Raleigh story, if only to get my FEELINGS out of the way so I can move on to other things. I strongly suspect it will not be a very well-written story, more cathartic than appreciated, but it's one of those things that I need to do to make brainspace.

Also, Pacific Rim fandom is full of amazing writers. It's a little intimidating, really.

So: Marvel Big Bang - to finish, or not to finish?

What should I do with my story so far?
Dump it and write something else.
Put your all into it and finish the big storyarc.
Complete Part I and worry about Part II and III later.
Something else which I will detail in the comments.

I am looking forward to your:
Steve/Maria short fics
Steve/Maria epic
MCU fic
Pacific Rim fic
Pacific Rim epic
Mako/Raleigh fics
other fics which I will specify in the comments
