Add one more to the hundreds of people writing Endgame fixits.
Although I can guarantee that mine will be unique in one character, at least.
Also, the job is ending at the end of next week. Apparently the work that would have meant I and the other contractors got to continue on here is now 'out of scope' which means they don't need us anymore.
So I don't actually have time to write this fixit, I should be writing my saleable romance novel.
*ugly sobbing*

So very not ready to go into FFA about Endgame. Or, you know, go into FFA at all. But particularly about Endgame.
I feel like I desperately need a hot shower. And a cold beer. And a fanfic that someone else wrote about Maria saving the world.
( one timeline to rule them all )
I'm kind of bummed that bible study doesn't start for another week, even if it does mean I get writing time tonight.

I posted this article a few days ago: spoiler anxiety is ruining pop culture.
One of the things that I definitely think it ruined is Endgame.
( case in point: second last scene by the lake )
The article makes a good case that we've elevated the plot above all things - including the character interactions. Which may work for the casual viewer, but it's seriously disconcerting for the fans and anyone who looks a mite deeper. And it kind of puts a glossy shine on something that doesn't have that much beneath it - or has something disturbing beneath, like the body at a funeral showing: sure it looks okay on top, but when you think about it, it's actually a rotting corpse.

And this is why I probably shouldn't go reading other people's reactions, because it sparks off all my own thoughts and feelings
( warnings for time travel brain breakage )
I really do miss when I could just enjoy these movies. I think I lost that later than most people – after Age of Ultron when the news for Civil War came out, tbh. Maybe that’s why I enjoyed Dr. Strange and GotG2: because they didn’t make my head hurt. (While Civil War made my heart hurt with the sheer lack of Maria in the storyline that introduced her in the comics, even as an antagonist over the Accords or something.)
I don't know if it will be the panacea for all ills, per se; you're probably wanting your favourite rather than mine, and the fixits will be coming thick and fast, but seriously, imma point you at the other side of infinity for something that yes, made my head hurt while writing, but which I'm pretty sure for which I closed all the really huge plotholes...
Oh, and ( spoiler for fic )

In short: it's a fitting end to the movie series. All the things you'd expect and well done.
I mean, I liked my version better. But that's also not a surprise. :)
And now I'm going to go pet my cats and listen to some music very loud so I hopefully don't have the Avengers theme in my head when I go to bed tonight...
