tielan: team under umbrella (H50 - team)

So, after a great deal of urging, hassling, encouragement and outright nagging from my writing group, I've finally watched Sherlock. Up to, but not including Reichenbach Falls.

So far? I like it.

It's enjoyable, clever, and beautifully put together. And it keeps making me laugh - so many little things. And, of course, there's Irene Adler.

what? you expected anything else? from me? )

Someone gifted me with the most amazing fic for the [livejournal.com profile] h50_exchange!

It's Kono and Steve gen, working as partners in an undercover deal; there's friendship and mentorship and drugs and excitement and Kono is the main character and it is awesome.

If you're a H50 fan and reading my journal, I'm pretty sure the chances are high you'll like this fic. :)

Edge Of The Knife
Two years ago, Kono had just entered the Academy, and now she's posing as a big-time dealer. With her boss. It's surreal and dangerous, but she wouldn't trade it for the world.
PG-13, Kono, Steve

In need of a beta for H50 fic - short, Kono & Jenna & the boys.

I got the due date of the [livejournal.com profile] h50_exchange wrong and it is a rush job and not the "cop show in three acts" I hoped to write this week...

So I've watched the end of Sanctuary Season 3, H5-0 Season 1, the end of Castle Season 2, the start of Lost Girl Season 1 (first episode) and the start of Rizzoli and Isles Season 2 (first episode).

I am ready to talk about any of them. However, be warned, what I have to say may not necessarily be to your liking. I can say that all the season enders were generally enjoyable for something to look at every now and then while finishing off the blocks for my Gothic Summer Sampler but nothing unduly spectacular.

Thanks to assorted writing friends, I've also seen the 1st half of Dr. Who S5, up to Flesh and Stone, and now I'm kinda curious to see Silence In The Library - although I know it's as terrifying as Blink, if not more - just so I can meet River Song the first time around (our chronology, not hers).

I might have another Dr Who day on the 24th if ppl are able to make it. Dr. Who is something that I simply cannot watch alone. CANNOT DO IT.

So, on the off-chance there are any H50 fans who care, I did watch episodes of H50 - I believe it was 1.07-1.09. I just remember the Sanctuary stuff better.

I have this vague recollection of playing the H50 theme in the Concert Band at high school )

Anyway, pleasant watching that didn't require stabbing my brain at any point in the show.

I really can't say the same of Sanctuary. 3.13 - 3.15 were just...eh. I kept watching because it's one of those things that you force yourself through (and because I'd heard that there are good eps on the other side).

I was typing up this post and realised it has a distinct Dr. Who theme. Which is rather funny, considering it started off as a post about the comfortable watchability of H5-0.

Awesome pregnancy t-shirt...

It would be worth being pregnant just to be able to wear this shirt, I tell you!

When Steve McGarrett was six years old, a man who lived in a blue phone box gave him a fez and told him he was going to save his life one day.
A brilliant, funny, and delightful little crossover between H5-0 and Dr Who. I'm not kidding. And it has time paradoxes and everything! Plus a scene where the team is adorable, and Amy and Rory are beyond adorable. Worth reading even if you don't watch Dr. Who!

Uh, and I just found a trailer for Fright Night, which appears to have Ten and Chekov fighting Colin Farrell who's a vampire.

My response can be summed up thus: !!!!

Hot damn, O'Loughlin. Why you gotta be so sexy?

Okay, I'm watching. But it better be candy and cheese with a big helping of Grace Park or else I'm gonna be pissed. I'm already slightly scared that I recognised half the producers/directors/crew. Also, so this is where Kurtzman and Orci turned up? Is it gonna turn conspiracy?
