I didn't do this in 2012 - I think I just pointed people at my AO3 account. But it's kind of nice to have it all in one spot, and I'd kind of like to start using my DW/LJ again after letting everything lapse. Tumblr is all very well, but sometimes you want a thinky conversation with people!

SUMMARY: Among the Blood, Black Widows are witches who are feared and distrusted for the skill with which they can weave tangled webs to see visions of the future - or entrap the mind. But when Teyla Emmagan of Athos village is called to the court of the Queen of Atlantis Territory, she is less concerned about being misunderstood, and more worried to step awry in the complex politics of the Atlantis court.

Then, too, there is the distracting presence of John Sheppard, a Warlord Prince whose interest in her is something Teyla cannot fathom. Does he distrust her motives? Is he merely protecting his Queen? Or is his interest something else - something that Teyla must learn to accept in order to best serve her Queen, her Territory, and her own heart?

NOTES: This is the first part of the prequel to 'To Serve A Queen', and has been added to a little bit at a time for the last five years. I didn't think starry_haze would mind too much if I completed it as her SGA Santa fic - it fit most of her requirements, the concerning one being "close-to-canon AUs". I made several other attempts at ficness - the original plan was to write EPIC LONGFIC "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" for her, but that fizzled thanks to writing angst, and then my attempt to write the 'Dave Sheppard has to deal with John/Teyla' fic "My Brother's Keeper" went bye-byes so this was it.

There was a second part to 'Widow's Pique' planned - one which features Elizabeth's court in its full glory and deals with Michael, Kanaan, and John/Teyla. I started with a basic romance plot and then about 18 months ago, reshuffled the plot to be EPIC. *coughs* I don't think it will ever be written, though.

NOTES: For sga_saturday's Amnesty Week, to their week 12 prompt 'cycle'. At first I was surprised that nobody even mentioned or hinted at this as a possible use for the word 'cycle'. And then I realised that, given fandom's proclivities, not really that surprising at all. This is a sequel of sots to my fic 'Every Day Is Another Tomorrow' but you don't have to read that one first to get this. It may be a little brain-breaky at first, though, so handle with caution!

When Teyla comes in to breakfast, the doors to the balcony are propped open, and a nauseating stench of rancid meat and burned porridge fills the room.

Summary: Not everything that is broken can be fixed. Sometimes it doesn't need to be. John begins to learns this when he returns from being a Wraith captive and convert - but can he accept it?
